Non-Resistant Souls is the topic this Sunday, November 4th. What are non-resistant souls, though, and how do they affect themselves and the world at large?
The Path of Non-Resistance
This Sunday, Reverend Bob will continue on a topic from the book, the untethered soul, by Michael Singer. Singer talks about non-resistance in the book in this statement:
“Stress only happens when you resist life’s events. If you’re neither pushing life away, nor pulling it toward you, then you are not creating any resistance. You are simply present. In this state, you are just witnessing and experiencing the events of life taking place.” Michael Singer, the untethered soul
The path of non-resistance is a spiritual practice that can become a way of life. It is not about denying the facts of life or trivializing difficulties. It is about learning to be observant and learning to respond in compassion rather than to react in negativity.
Sunday Services at Unity of Palm Harbor
Join us at one of the Sunday services at Unity of Palm Harbor at either 9:15 AM or 11:00 AM. The 9:15 service is more meditative in feeling and the 11:00 AM service is more of an energized, uptempo experience. At 11:00 AM, Unity of Palm Harbor’s Youth Ministry programs also take place. Children and teens meet in the Heritage building classrooms on the UPH campus.
During services, you’ll find a mix of several components. The minister’s message is accompanied by special music to support the weekly theme, a time for meditation within the service, prayer, positive affirmation and announcements.
Used Book Sale
This week, our used book sale gets underway! Visit the Heritage Building after either service to find some reading gems to take home with you. Donations for books are given on a love offering basis. If you would like to drop off some of your own books to donate for the sale, please do so by Saturday, November 3rd so that they can be sorted and put out on the tables for Sunday’s sale.
Meditation, Prayer and Fellowship
For an additional meditation time, you may join the small group that meets in the Quiet Room at the back of the sanctuary following the 9:30 AM service. The start times varies but it is sometime between 10:15 and 10:30 AM once the first service is over.
We also have a special mid-week Meditation Service at 6:00 pm on Wednesdays. You can learn more about this service on our Facebook page. At 7:00 pm, following the service, Deanna Gray leads an Amrit yoga class to further the meditative experience. Read more about the Amrit Yoga class here.
Unity is based on prayer and we have a committed team of prayer chaplains that are here to pray with you. You can find the prayer chaplains after each service at the front of the sanctuary. They will be wearing blue stolls.
Join us in the Heritage Building after services for fellowship, snacks and refreshments.
We look forward to seeing you again or meeting you for the first time this Sunday!
