Author Peggy Lantz will present a program about Florida’s edible wild plants with a show-and-tell tubful of weeds from her yard, followed by a program filled with photos of plants available in her yard at this season or in central Florida.
Mrs. Lantz, a Florida Master Naturalist instructor, has been a wild foods hobbyist for over 50 years. A Florida native, her other activities have included camping, canoeing, backpacking, and horseback riding. She is also a leather crafter, and served as editor of Florida Native Plant Society’s The Palmetto and Florida Audubon’s The Florida Naturalist. Her published books include The Young Naturalist’s Guide to Florida, The Florida Water Story, Florida’s Incredible Wild Edibles, The Butler Chain of Lakes, and the recently published book, Florida’s Edible Wild Plants.
She and her husband have four children and five grandchildren, and live in central Florida on Lake Lucy, which is named for her great grandmother and on the shores of which her family has lived for 100 years.
After the program, Peggy will be available to chat and sign books (feel free to bring your own copy). Books will also be available for sale or on Amazon
