Shadows in our Path by Rev. Tracey Quillen

We’re running with the shadows of the night
So baby take my hand, you’ll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They’ll come true in the end

Wow Pat Benatar just belts it out – It can be a cold world when we keep all of our thoughts and feelings to ourselves. She talks about all the pain in the world and that we only have each other –

It’s a cold world ~when you keep it all to yourself
You can’t hide on the inside ~

All the pain you’ve ever felt
‘Cause we got nobody else

Do we see each other in this Light? Do we see Trust in, “Take my hand and it will be alright?” If we do have Trust in one another, then when we run from “the shadows,” have we made an agreement with another soul ~ one we can rely on to take us to the next level of life’s yearning to be understood, the development of our soul? And if that is true, then isn’t it true that all of our dreams may come true in the end?

What would this world be like if we did not think this? If we just ran solo and felt that all the weight of the shadows was for us to endure alone?

We have been looking at Soul Contracts through the month of March and through the lens of Archetypes. What is an Archetype?

Caroline Myss in her book, Sacred Contracts, defines an archetype as, “A source of emotional, physical and spiritual power.” Our journey with one another provides us with “the opportunity to learn the archetype’s lesson and develop an aspect of personal power.”

This aspect of personal power is an awakening to our soul’s development. As Charles Fillmore, the co-founder of Unity, says,

“The one and only object of a person’s existence is the development of his or her soul.”

The “who” that shows up in our lives provides this fertile playground to share in the learning of our life lessons – the soul evolution kind of lessons – so that we may evolve and dissolve those “shadow” selves.

What exactly is the shadow? Carl Jung says, “Through a desire to please others, we focus on our qualities which we perceive to be acceptable by others and hide the parts of ourselves which we believe to be negative. We often wear a mask. This suppressed side of the personality is known as the ‘shadow’ or the ‘shadow self’, the parts of ourselves that we think society will disapprove of which are pushed away into our unconscious. Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” [https://mindowl.org/shadow-self/]

How do we make the unconscious, conscious? This is the soul’s mission, the sacred contract, to come into form and discover this archetypal pattern, and invite in the perfect partner(s) to have this lifetime experience with and recognize our shadow selves and our wholeness.

Emmet Fox says,

  • You will not only come back, but you will probably meet some of your present associates again, particularly if there is an emotional link….
  • Love will take care of itself, but you must get all hatred out of your heart if you do not want to renew disagreeable contracts.
  • Your son today may have been your father…
  • People tend to live and move in the same groups to reincarnate

How do we fulfill our greatest purpose if not to take our life experiences and view them from a lens of learning and take that next step in the advancement of the evolution of our souls?

So baby take my hand, you’ll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They’ll come true in the end
