I hold for you in the NEW YEAR the JOY, JOY, JOY, JOY!

Myrtle Fillmore, co-founder of the Unity movement, says:

Joy is one of our most powerful spiritual assets. Joy relieves strain and stress and opens the way for the outpouring of divine goodness.

So how do we get more of this JOY in our lives?

1st we know our SPIRITUAL JOURNEY is an “inside-out” job. Life has challenges so it is our reaction to these challenges that creates how we feel about a situation.  Some people call these challenges learning opportunities. I will say these opportunities allow for us to experience expansion and growth. For if we keep doing things the way we have always done them, then we are going to continue to get what we have always gotten. How about if we begin by shifting our thoughts? If you are going through a particularly difficult time right now, how about tracking through your memory bank to a time that you remember experiencing JOY.

What does JOY feel like?

Is it light and playful like hearing a baby’s laughter?

Is it being with friends and sharing heartfelt moments?

Is it sitting on the beach and watching the sunset in the peace and stillness?

Where is JOY located in your body?

Some may point to their heart space. Just for fun, start at the bottom of your toes. Imagine a soft gentle tingling sensation. Using your hands like an open piano keyboard, begin lifting that tingling sensation to your calves. Allow that tingle to come up to your knees and thighs. Keep directing with your piano hands, lifting that JOY through your hips and tummy and up to your chest and across your shoulders and down your arms into your fingertips. Now lift those fingertips to the heavens and allow your head to bobble and follow the JOY. Lift high into the air and gently in a half moon motion, allow your hands to drift back to your sides. How do you feel? Silly? Connected? Alive?

When you made that half arc and brought your arms to your side, did you feel how you made an opening? An expansive opening? For JOY cannot be concealed or contained. It is an infectious feeling that expands and expands.

When you are feeling stuck, do this exercise. See if your mood doesn’t lighten up a bit. When we shift our thoughts, we are shifting our focus. We know what we focus on g-r-o-w-s! Allow a little JOY to grow within you and all around you.

This is my WISH for you in the NEW YEAR! Let us feel our own joy and then take it out into the world, “And make the world a better place.”
