The 23rd Psalm has as much meaning today as it was when it was first written. Visit Unity of Palm Harbor this Sunday to be reinvigorated by this psalm which calms us and affirms that we are not alone.
The Lord is my Shepherd
This Sunday, Reverend Bob Fortner will revisit some of the most famous and comforting passages of the Bible, the 23rd Psalm. He will take a look at how the messages put forth in this beautiful psalm can have much meaning for us today, over 2,000 years after it was recorded.
The Lord is my shepherd… what does this really mean?
We are not simply sheep seeking to be shepherded.
It is good to remember, though, that we do have our own built-in GPS (God’s Piloting System) to help us through times of uncertainty and sadness. This Psalm has so many powerful reminders, and it is no wonder that it is the favorite of many people. We think that this will include you after you hear this talk!
Music and Meditation
This week, our all-female trio, In Her Light, will be presenting a beautiful acapella piece based on The Lord’s Prayer/23rd Psalm that Bobby McFerrin (composer and singer of the well known song, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”) re-interpreted in honor of his mother. Joy Katzen-Guthrie will be bringing her beautiful voice and piano to both services as well!
Meditation opportunities at Unity of Palm Harbor are during both Sunday services, at 10:30 AM in the Quiet Room in the sanctuary and also on Wednesdays in the sanctuary with Reverend Bob at noon. Note: Wednesday evening meditation services are on hiatus during the summer and will resume in September. Be sure to take a walk through the gardens behind the Heritage building to commune with nature and find a quiet spot in the gazebo, walking the 12-powers stepping stone path or relaxing for meditation or quiet prayer on one of the benches.
Speaking of the 12 Powers walk… We were just gifted with some gorgeous photos of the 12 powers meditation walk along with some absolutely photography of our gardens and grounds by photographer, Mikell Herrick. Please visit the post and slideshow of photos to see more!
Join us at either or both of our services this Sunday at 1960 Tampa Rd. in Palm Harbor and enjoy uplifting music, prayer, meditation and- of course- a great message to think about during the week ahead!
